Milestones and Deliverables
21
APAE document Grew out of a symposium in 2009, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, on the uses and needs of accelerators for the discovery science, energy and environment, defense and security, industrial, and medical communities. See the website at: http://www.acceleratorsamerica.org/
22
APAE document Plan to do the same for Europe Already started in TIARA with Accelerators for Society See: http://www.accelerators-for- society.org/
23
APAE document Plan to do the same for Europe Applications of Particle Accelerators in Europe Our role will be to enable this, rather than do it Draft aim: document the uses and importance of accelerators in Europe and where improvements are possible. It will also study applications which are new or currently under development. The aim will be to deliver a document which can be presented to European policy makers and funding agencies to demonstrate the potential of particle accelerators and the importance of continuing their development. Process of identifying conveners has started Planning kick-off meeting: - November - Royal Society in London Your help and input are essential to make this work
24
Conclusions Accelerator Applications Network: - new to EuCARD2 - has made a good start (we think) Building on a lot of work already done by others Aim#1: use RI technology to improve some applications Via topical workshops, meetings, etc Aim#2: Applications of Particle Accelerators in Europe document Via kick-off meeting and further workshops For further information: - speak to any of us - email: Rob.Edgecock@stfc.ac.uk - see http://eucardapplications.hud.ac.uk/http://eucardapplications.hud.ac.uk/
