BIOGRAPHY Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens)was born in 1835. Mark Twain- it is his pen name. He was the sixth of seven children. At the age of 4‚ Sam and his family moved to the small town of Hannibal and lived in the state of the Missouri on the banks of the Mississippi.

In 1847‚ when Sam was 11‚ his father died. He left school and began to work as a printer’s apprentice for a newspaper. His job allowed Sam to read the news of the world.

At 18‚ Sam headed east to New York City and Philadelphia‚ where he worked on several different newspapers and found some success at writing articles.

For the next17 years‚ Sam‚ Livy, his wife, and their three daughters lived in the Hartford home. During those years Mark Twain wrote « Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”.
