4. Program Information The Region III Educator Preparation Program provides an opportunity for college graduates to become certified teachers through an “accelerated” education internship program.

Eligibility Requirements Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning –Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools –North Central Association of Colleges and Schools –New England Association of Schools and Colleges –Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges –Southern Association of Colleges and Schools –Western Association of Schools and Colleges *Official transcripts from each institution where college credit was received may be sent directly from the institution to Region III EPP. *Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved credential evaluation service (SPANTRAN)

8. Eligibility Requirements An overall 2.5 grade point average or above on a 4.0 system or 2.5 grade point average for the last 60 hours Have the required block of semester hours for the desired area of certification with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 system

Secondary Content Areas If there is a question about whether a course should be counted in the GPA calculation, obtain a course description and provide a written request for review to an EPP specialist. 2011 and 2012 transcripts should be provided as soon as graduated – need conferred date of degree on transcript.

No module will be opened for an individual until payment in full is received for the online courses. If payment is received after the module has begun, the individual will automatically be placed in the next cycle.

25. Deadlines Secondary Application Deadline is April 2, 2012. Deadline for meeting Basic Skills requirement is April 13, 2012. Field Experience Observations and 3 recommendation letters must be completed by May 18, 2012. Spring 2012 Graduates must get transcript with conferred date of degree, or at least a letter from the Office of Admissions and Records stating that requirements have been met for the degree, to the EPP by May 25, 2012.

26. Applicant to Intern Status Applicants should not resign from their present employment positions until they have been employed by an ISD. Being accepted into the EPP does not guarantee employment by a school district. The applicant/intern is responsible for securing a teaching position with a school district prior to the start of the 2012- 2013 school year.

27. Intern to Certified Teacher Complete all required training sessions (300 training hours). Submit all required documentation including principal and mentor forms as well as intern forms. Take required TExES exams on a timely basis and earn passing scores. Submit completed documentation for certification. Apply for appropriate SBEC certificates and pay SBEC fees. Successfully complete the one-year internship with district and Region III recommendations for certification.
