All Early Start students will be eligible for classes based on ELM scores: 0 – 26 ➝ ESM 10 28 – 40 ➝ ESM 11 42 – 48 ➝ ESM 12 EAP Conditional students without an ELM score will be placed in ESM 11 ESM 5 will satisfy the CSU Early Start requirement, but will not advance students academically Service students should check their destination campus’s math course placement scores to determine if they can advance academically Early Start Placement MATH

Who’s Exempt Students with EPT scores above 147 Students “Exempt” based on EAP score. Students exempt based on SAT, ACT, or AP scores Students formally “Conditionally Exempt” Who earned C or higher in an approved year long, senior-year Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC), AP English, IB English An English course approved for extra honors weight on the University of California “a-g” Doorways course list. ENGLISH

Early Start English Students subject to Early Start must take ESE 5, an online 1.5 unit course with tutorial support, that leads to direct self placement (DSP) for Fall First Year Composition. Mandatory population who have not been otherwise exempt. EPT scores below 147 “Conditionally Exempt” who did not fulfill the 12th grade requirements SAT score between 460-490 ACT score between 19-21 ENGLISH

Important EAP Reminders Official transcripts for Conditional Ready students should be sent as soon as possible New SAT/ACT cutoff scores for EAP Conditional EAP results have no impact on CSU admission decisions Students still need to fill in Both CSU and CCC bubble to release EAP results EAP results are available online for students to view or download only if released. http://www.csuenglishsuccess.org/eap_results EAP results not released are still valid but must be submitted separately eapdups@ets.org EAP results will be available in about 3-4 weeks after testing Some Community Colleges accepting EAP results http://extranet.cccco.edu/Divisions/StudentServices/EAP/AcceptingEAP.aspx
