7. Course Description  AP World History is a rigorous college-level course offered to high school students. The course was designed to be the equivalent of an introductory or survey college course in World History in both scope and depth.  The course will be a continuation of the 9H curriculum beginning in the year 1450 and continuing through present day covering major cultures and events in world history.  This course goes beyond the Global History and Geography curriculum in several ways. First, the pace at which material is covered will be much quicker and will require a great deal of independent reading. Second, the focus of the course is on global processes and connections between cultures and across time periods. Third, the course will concentrate on teaching the skills required for success on the AP Exam  The course will be extremely demanding including daily quizzes, annotated maps, frequent timed essays, several projects, and active participation in group-discussion that will necessitate good time management on the part of the student.
