4 Self-Assessment Self-assessment, an internally motivated process, used to gain informed perspectives on the strengths and deficiencies of services and to plan for improvements. The process provides an assessment tool using the CAS Standards and Guidelines, the current generally accepted standards of practice.

5 The procedures involve the following steps: Establish and prepare the self-assessment review team Understand the CAS Standards and Guidelines. Compile and review documentary evidence. Judge performance using assessment criterion Complete the assessment process using two-tiered (individual and group) judgment approach for determining the extent to which the program meets the CAS standards.

6 Documentary Evidence Participant recruitment and marketing materials: brochures, policies and procedures, program reports, participant evaluations. Program documents: catalogs, brochures, manuals, policy and procedures, evaluation and periodic reports, contracts, memos Institutional Administrative Documents: program purpose and philosophy statements, organizational charts, financial resource statements, student and staff profiles, assessment reports. Research, Assessment and Evaluation Data: needs assessments, follow- up studies, program evaluations, outcome measures and methodologies, self-study reports Student Activity Reports: transcripts, portfolios, reports of student accomplishments, employer reports

9 Admissions The primary mission of the Admissions Program is to address the abilities needs and expectations of prospective students as they move from secondary to postsecondary education, from one postsecondary institution to another, or as they return from a period of non-enrollment to formal learning.

10 Academic Advising The primary mission of the AAP is to assist students in the development of meaningful educational plans that are compatible with their life goals.

11 Counseling Services The mission of CS is to assist students to define and accomplish personal, academic, and career goals.

12 Career Services The primary mission of Career Services is to assist students through all phases of their career development.

13 Educational Services for Distance Learners The mission of Distance Learning is to offer commensurate educational services to assist distance learners to achieve their goals. Such services must be comparable to educational services provided to conventional learners and they must meet standards comparable to those of other institutional offerings.

14 Student Financial Aid The mission of the financial aid office is to provide assistance in applying for and receiving state and federal aid.

15 Student Health Office The mission of the Student Health Office is to integrate individual health, education for health, prevention of disease, and public health responsibilities.

16 Disability Services The primary mission of Disability Services is to ensure equal access for students with disabilities to all curricular and co-curricular opportunities offered by the College.

17 Student Life & Development The mission of SL is to facilitate /build an active campus community that enhances the educational experience.

18 Native Hawaiian CTEP The mission of NHCTEP is to promote the academic and personal growth and development of students of Hawaiian ancestry.
