4 Freshman Registration EXPLORE RESULTS (COURSE NAME) ENGLISH English 1 (1-17) AH English 1 (18-25) MATH Algebra 1 DD (Acc. 1 List) Algebra 1 (17 and below) AH Algebra I (18-25) MATH Physical Science (1-14) Biology I (15- 17) AH Biology 1 (18-25) READING World Geography (1-14) World History (15-17) AH World History (18-25) AP World History (20+ Comp) Placement or English, Math, Science, and Social Studies will be based on the student’s EXPLORE scores.

5 Honor Contract Option to move from standard to advanced honors Same subject only – AH English – AH Algebra – AH Biology – AH World History Does not work for AP class

6 Special Needs If you have a child with special needs, then you may request for a LHS representative to attend your spring IEP meeting – Must be requested by parent We want to help make the transition from middle school to high school as smooth as possible

7 Summer Reading Advanced Honors English I – Summer reading is required – Will count on your first nine weeks’ grade Standard English I – Summer reading is recommended, but optional – Will count as extra credit on your first nine weeks’ grade Reading lists will be posted: – www.rcs.k12.tn.us

8 Wellness & ROTC Wellness Wellness Football ROTC – 2 years required – Fulfills Wellness & PE requirements Additional PE credit will be taken in 10 th grade – PE requirement may be met by participating in ROTC, Band, or LHS Athletics

13 Total Number of Dual Credit Hours In theory a student who participates in all DE courses potentially offered could earn up to 27 hours of college credit by high school graduation There is a possibility of other courses, such as Biology II, that may be offered in the future as a fourth science senior year

14 Tennessee HOPE Scholarship $2,000 per semester for 4-year institutions and 2-year institutions with on-campus housing $1,000 per semester for 2-year institutions Minimum 21 ACT (Composite)/980 SAT (Math + Critical Reading ONLY) OR Final cumulative 3.0 GPA for entering freshmen For more info go to: www.tn.gov/CollegePayswww.tn.gov/CollegePays

15 Graduate with Honors Score at or above all of the college readiness benchmarks on the ACT ACT Benchmarks: – English 18 – Math22 – Reading22 – Science23

16 Graduate with Distinction Students must attain a B average (3.0) and complete at least one of the following: – earn a nationally recognized industry certification – participate in at least one of the Governor’s Schools – participate in one of the state’s All State musical organizations – be selected as a National Merit Finalist of Semi-Finalist – attain a score of 31 or higher composite score on the ACT – attain a score of 3 or higher on at least two advanced placement exams – successfully complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme – earn 12 or more semester hours of transcripted postsecondary credit

17 Valedictorian Criteria 4.0 or highest GPA Taken a minimum of twelve (12) honors or above honors level courses Meet all requirements for a student graduating with honors Meet all requirements for student graduating with distinction Requirements must be met by January 1 st of senior year
