All emergency response plans and action steps are reviewed and edited by our central office. We follow the Harris County Department of Education Emergency Response Plan guidelines and trainings. The ERP is shared with staff, law enforcement and medical response teams in our area. One member per team/department (minimum) is a part of the Trauma Team-all Trauma Team members are First Aid/CPR certified. Signage outside classroom doors show all staff members who are First Aid/CPR certified.
4
Officers protect life and property on all Klein ISD campuses and facilities and enforce school zone speed limits. They randomly check all District facilities on a 24-hour basis and respond to alarms. Officers also investigate traffic and accidents occurring on district property and assist other law enforcement agencies as necessary in the investigation of crimes within the district boundaries.
5
Staff Members are trained in: Basic Safety Drills (fire/tornado)- use of signal cards and quick accountability of students. Admin/Leadership team uses hand radios to communicate, assist and check certain areas. Fire Drills occur monthly and are recorded for review by the Harris County Fire Marshal. Intruderology -provided by HCDE Center for Safe and Secure Schools. This training occurs yearly and is reviewed often. Among other things, this assists teachers in awareness of nametags/visitors, surroundings and building access. Admin/Leadership trained in student/guardian reunification should emergency ever occur.
6
Each classroom teacher in T-Building has key to their room along with alarm code. Doors are locked at all times. Children are never outside alone or unattended. During severe weather all students are relocated inside with assistance from administration.
7
V-Soft: All adults present in the building between 8:20 and 3:15 must wear a nametag stating the date, time checked in and visiting location. This must be visible throughout entire visit and turned in when you leave. (Klein ISD employees all have nametags with picture) Visitors who plan to go into classrooms and/or work with students must pass a background check. (Watch DOGS, room moms, field trip chaperones, etc.) **Some special events have exceptions to the background checks (i.e.-holiday party)**
8
Occasionally we will send out mass emails or phone calls to provide information. Please be sure you listen to or read the whole message before calling the school. These messages are typically general reminders or minor emergency notifications(power outage, internet down) and calling can tie up phone lines.
9
If you ever need to change your students transportation please be sure to notify your student’s teacher, as well as the front office. We prefer a note or phone call to the office before 2:30 to ensure we can contact the student and the teacher. Please be specific and note whether the change is permanent or temporary. If temporary-please specify days/dates.
10
By law we have to follow what the Divorce Decree and Custody agreement states. If there is ever any change in your custody agreement please submit a copy to our registrar, Dana Sanford. Make sure AGR card specifies other individuals who can pick up your student. If this ever changes, please be sure we are informed.
11
All medicine, including cough drops, must be given to our school nurse to ensure proper dosage and needs. It is a severe violation and risk if a student has any sort of medicine in their backpack or pockets while at school. If your student takes medicine at home, but not a school, please be sure to still inform the nurse in case of any medical emergency.
12
School opens as early as 7:50, (7:35 if eating breakfast). Please remember no animals are allowed on property. Cell phone use is prohibited by drivers in our school zone. Please follow the cones and signs for easy flow of traffic, cooperation with buses and emergency vehicles if necessary. Gym Car Line=K-3 rd grade Front Car Line=4 th -5 th Grade and carpoolers.
