Foundation High School Plan (curriculum requirements) Endorsements (coursework related to specific career interest that will allow for advanced learning) End of Course Exams (state testing for high school students: must master exams in English I, English II, Algebra II, Biology, and US History)

3 Foundation High School Plan – 22 Credits English Language Arts - 4 credits English I English II English III Advanced English Course Mathematics - 3 credits Algebra I Geometry Advanced Mathematics Course Science - 3 credits Biology IPC or Advanced Science Course Advanced Science Course Social Studies - 3 credits U.S. History U.S. Government (one-half credit) Economics (one-half credit) World Geography or World History or Combined World History/World Geography Languages Other Than English 2 credits in the same language Computer programming language (other exceptions) Physical Education - 1 credit Fine Arts - 1 credit Electives - 5 credits

4 Distinguished Level of Achievement A student may earn a distinguished level of achievement by successfully completing: 4 credits Math which must include Algebra II 4 credits of Science Completion of Curriculum requirement for at least one Endorsement

5 Endorsements State of Texas has proposed 5 Endorsements: STEM Business & Industry Arts & Humanities Public Services Multi-Disciplinary Studies Each District must make available at least one endorsement (CHISD will offer all 5 endorsements)

6 Additional Distinctions Performance Acknowledgement (on diploma and transcript) 12 hours college academic courses or Associates degree while in high school Bilingualism and biliteracy 2 or more languages and other criteria Business or industry certification or license Outstanding performance in Advanced Placement Outstanding performance in PSAT, ACT-Plan, SAT, ACT

7 How will this work at Collegiate High School? Upon completing the high school diploma and Associates of Arts Degree, students attending Cedar Hill Collegiate High School will earn: Endorsement in Multidisciplinary Studies Distinguished Achievement Performance Acknowledgements

8 Personal Graduation Plans New Requirement: All students must complete PGP (Personal Graduation Plan) upon entering High School, that includes the selection of an Endorsement A student may amend his/her personal graduation plan after the initial confirmation of the plan

9 CHISD PGP 1.Choose an endorsement and complete NGC form for endorsement and courses for 9 th grade (CHCHS Students will complete form upon acceptance) 2.Complete 4 year plan of courses in Spring of 9 th grade year via Family Access 3.Update Personal Graduation Plan and Course selection each school year until graduation

10 What Do You Need to Do to be prepared for Next Year

11 CREDITS To graduate, you must obtain all credits and pass the state End of Course (EOC) exams. You must earn: 6 Credits to be a Sophomore 12 Credits to be a Junior 18 Credits to be a Senior 26 Credits to graduate with an endorsement 22 Credits to graduate with Foundation HS Plan

12 END OF COURSE EXAMS (EOC) must pass with satisfactory ENGLISH I (9 th grade) ALGEBRA I (9 th grade) BIOLOGY (9 th grade) ENGLISH II (10 th Grade) U.S. HISTORY (11 th Grade)

14 What does a New Plan look like at NGC? Cedar Hill Ninth Grade Center offers the core courses and elective classes that are the foundation to any of the graduation endorsements.

15 NGC Course Selection ENGLISH 1 ALGEBRA 1 (or Geometry if Alg I has been completed) BIOLOGY W. GEOGRAPHY SPANISH 1 (or Spanish II, if already completed Span I) BIM or Professional Comm. +(CTE) Choose Electives: 2 (1 full year courses) or 4 (semester courses) and an alternate.
