2 About Liberia Location: West Coast of Africa, bounded by - Republic of Guinea - North -The Atlantic Ocean - South - Republic of the Ivory Coast - East -Republic of Sierra Leone - West Area: 111,369 sq kilometers Population: 3,476,000 inhabitants (ref. 2008 census) Capital City:Monrovia (1.1 million residents) Liberia has 15 counties and four seaports Major exports are rubber and iron ore

3 Who we are…. MeneCare International Liberia is a not- for-profit organization established in December 2014 during the fight against the spread of Ebola in Liberia to assist in sustaining an effective health care system in Liberia MeneCare International Liberia is member of Menergy Group, which has business interests in Liberia

4 What we do…. MeneCare International Liberia exists to make positive change in Liberia Health Care Delivery System by providing health materials to needy health facilities in Montserrado County. Drawing from the Ebola experience, we look forward to sustaining this collaboration with all stakeholders, including the private sector, to building an efficient health care system in Liberia by 2030.

5 How we do …. Needs assessment baseline survey at targeted health facilities in Montserrado County. Make presentation to partners of Menergy Group and grant making institutions that support charity. Develop project proposal to solicit material and financial support to address specific needs

6 Why we do…. Poor health facilities in Liberia contributed to rapid spread of the Ebola virus and high death rate in the country

13 MeneCare International wants to assist in strengthening the health care system to respond adequately to any future outbreak of disease in Liberia that could threaten the life of all Liberians, including the valued contract workers of our sister companies (Menergy & Mea Catering)

14 Findings The survey revealed several needs which are categorized as follows: – Essential drugs & Emergency drugs Inadequate Supply of: – antibiotics – antihelminthics – antispasmodics – family Planning Medication – intravenous fluids with their giving sets and Supplies cannot sustain the load of patients

15 – Medical supplies and equipment Inadequate supply of Sterile Syringes & Needles Sphygmomanometers Infra-Red Thermometers Generators Hand Water Pumps Incinerators Intravenous (IV) Giving Sets Enhanced Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Laboratory Reagents and Equipment – Haematology and Bio- chemical Analyzer Machines, Refrigerators, Scales, Centrifuges, Light/ Solar Microscopes.

16 Logistics & Infrastructure: Damaged and Leaking Ceilings Damaged Doors Cracked Walls Non-Functional Toilets Non-Functional Wells Lack or Absence of Nurses’/ Staff Quarters & Stations Non-Available/ Inadequate Space leading to a Single Room being used as Labor Room, Delivery Room & Post-Partem Room/ Injection Room and Wound Dressing Room. Ambulance and Utility Vehicle
