Multicultural school 30 native languages spoken Basic education: 52 % Upper secondary: 19% of the students speaks other language than Finnish as their mother tongue Russian, Albanian, Arabian, Somalian, Vietnamese (over 30 nationalities)

TURKU INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL The city of Turku established and opened the school in August 2003 Teacher training school of Turku (Turun normaalikoulu, University of Turku) is responsible for the teaching Amount of students: 240 (in 7.9.2011) –grades 1-6: 120 –grades 7-9: 61 –IB Programme: 59

The task of Turku International School to provide high quality teaching to foreign children whose family has moved to Turku area temporarily or permanently, and to the Finns who have lived for years abroad and moved back to Finland to help Turku and other towns in the region, universities and companies to realize their strategies of internationalization to tempt foreign experts and workers to move to Turku area

Curriculum The Finnish National Curriculum Grades 5-9 are using both the Finnish National Curriculum and IBO’s MYP Upper secondary: IB Diploma Programme International teacher trainees Club activities (after school hours) An active PTA (Parent Partnership)
