Protocells (Origin of Life)
2
Many Experiments Have Been Done Under Various Conditions That Reveal That Amino Acids, ATP and Other Organic Compounds Can Be Produced.
4
Think Critically If an animal cell is placed inside of a protocell what effect would it have on the animal cell? How do the contents of the protocell and the animal cell compare?
5
Think Critically (cont’d) It is known that protocells are readily broken up by agitation and dissolved with changes in PH, heat and temperature. Are protocells likely to occur outside of a laboratory?
6
The cell is very structured and has a great interdependence between its various parts. For instance, the information on how read the DNA, replicate it and apply the results of the replication is all contained in the DNA.
7
The Unbreak- able Cycle of a Cell
8
Think Critically If a person puts together ten pieces of a 1,000 piece puzzle, is it reasonable to assume that the rest of the puzzle will assemble itself if not touched? Can this reasoning be applied to the development of a living cell from a protocell?
