School Hours 8:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. Breakfast will be served starting at 8:25 a.m. All other students are allowed to enter the building at 8:35 a.m.
12
Attendance, Tardies, Early Dismissal We encourage all students to attend school on-time every day. Being here consistently helps students develop routines and participate in their learning community. PWCS Policy: Student who misses 10 or more days without making up school work may be considered for retention.
13
Attendance and Excuses Parents must notify school by 9:00 a.m. on day of your child’s absence. Please call the absentee line and leave a message (703) 590 - 5655. In addition, a written note is required when the child returns to school, providing the reason for the absence. In order for any prearranged absences to be classified as excused, a letter must be sent to Ms. Marsilio one week prior to the expected absence. Parents are encouraged to schedule family trips during school holidays.
14
The first day of school, all students will hear the following message: Our class is a safe place: –we will take care of each other, –learn together, and –build a learning community together. I will help you become the best student you can be.
15
First Day of School Students should come to school the first day the same way they will the rest of the year, e.g. bus. Students are lined up by grade level outside the front door. Parents will not be allowed to walk their children to their class.
16
School Visitors All visitors must report to the office and present a photo ID before going to any part of the school - even in the hallways. We adhere to 100% ID check.
17
Bus Loop Cars are not allowed in the bus loop between 8:15 - 9:00 a.m. & 2:45 - 3:30 p.m. Students who arrive at school via car need to be dropped off at “Kiss and Ride.”
18
Kiss and Ride If your child is a car rider, the drop off and pick up point is our parking lot, not the bus loop. In the morning and afternoon, several teachers will be on duty at “Kiss and Ride”. Will receive a form to complete on the first day of school. Will be assigned a number to be placed on your windshield and child’s backpack.
19
Springwoods Reading Pledge All our students are required to read for 20 minutes per night. Reading with your child is the very best thing you can do for your child.

Summer Reading All summer reading forms, both Summer Quest and Springwoods, are due to your child’s teacher by Friday, September 6 th.
