As you take notes, fill out the information for each term and draw a picture that will help you remember them.

 The cytoplasm is the part of the cell outside the nucleus

 The nucleus contains most of a cell’s DNA  Contains the genetic information that is passed from one generation of cells to the next.

 Proteins are made on ribosomes

 Where lipid components of the cell membrane are assembled, along with proteins and other materials that are exported from the cell

 Rough ER -Has ribosomes on its surface

 Smooth ER -does not have ribosomes on its surface

 change, sort, and package proteins and other materials from the ER for storage in the cell

 Help break down lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins into small molecules that can be used

 saclike structures that are used to store materials

 Converts the chemical energy stored in food into compounds that are more convenient for the cell to use

 Capture the energy in sunlight and convert  it into chemical energy

 The cytoskeleton helps support the cell

 On the back of your notes draw a picture of an animal cell. Label each part and describe it’s function.  This is a cheat sheet you can use on the test.
