Who killed JFK? Funny you should ask…….
3
What happened? These are the facts.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy, our 35th President, was killed by rifle fire in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. The suspected gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald, is arrested in a Dallas movie theater two hours later. Two days later, the suspected gunman is killed by local nightclub owner Jack Ruby. That’s about it……..
4
It all started innocently enough.
Zapruder Film Nix Film Oswald’s murder What’s the problem?
5
The evidence doesn’t add up.
Fatal wound appears to come from the front while book depository was behind. Oswald was not a good shot. Flashes from the grassy knoll. The prime suspect is identified within two hours. No fingerprints in the “shooters nest”. Who are the possible culprits?
6
Lee Harvey Oswald Who: Lone gunmen, general loser.
Why: Hello? He was a loser!! He was aligned with almost every anti-government group, from the Communist to the pro-Fidel Castro Cubans. How: With military training and a job in the Texas School Book Depository, the lone nut, ah, gunman had a perfect shot. Probability: The Warren Commission says he did it, the official “Lone Gunman” theory. But the evidence, or lack thereof leaves a lot to be desired. If not him, who?
7
The C.I.A. Who: A group of militant, right-wing American intelligence agents who believed Kennedy was soft on communism. Why: Kennedy threatened to smash the CIA and scatter it. He had lost Cuba and they feared he would lose more ground, specifically Vietnam. How: Set up Oswald as a patsy, get Ruby to “silence” him later, then use their own shooters or professionals from the Mafia or anti-Castro groups. Probability: The CIA would not have a problem setting this up, but there is little hard evidence linking them. And that’s the way they planned it. Get it?
8
The Cubans Who: Right-wing Cuban exiles in America.
Who else: Fidel Castro himself. Why: Exiles-retribution for what they believed was abandonment by the U.S government. Castro-why not? How: By hiring Oswald to shoot Kennedy. Probability: The Cuban could not have pulled off such a far reaching plan and cover it up. Castro probably could not hire Mafia hit-men because they were trying to kill him!
9
The Mafia Who: Men named Jimmy “the Weasel” and Frankie “the Butcher”.
Why: The Mafia gave JFK the business because his little brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy, was making it his business to eliminate organized crime. How: Are you kidding? Probability: Both Oswald and Ruby had Mob links. But “clean” murders were a source of pride for this group and the botched-up mess this became cast doubts.
10
The Russians Who: The KGB
Why: The Cold War was at its height. Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev vowed to bury the U.S., maybe one person at a time. How: Oswald had defected to the USSR, married a Communist, threatened espionage against his own country and worked as a pro-Castro pamphleteer. Probability: The Russians had little to nothing to gain from the assassination of JFK. They weren’t friends, but they didn’t want a war.
11
Billionaires and Banker
Who: America’s power brokers. Why: Kennedy closed tax loopholes for the wealthy, forced steel producers to cap prices and skimmed oil reserves, thus enraging American businessmen, billionaires and Texas oil producers. How: By working in tandem with the CIA and other sympathetic agents of the government. Probability: I’m not saying, I’m just saying…..
