3 EXPECTATIONS: YOUR ROLE AS A STUDENT Ask questions! Why does the water stream bend? Can we get the stream to bend left and right? Can we bend it and then straighten it out? Why does this happen?

10 LEARNING STRENGTHS AND CLASS PROFILE Hey!!!! You’re not the same as me! Everyone likes to do things in their own particular way. Some people like to read about concepts and ideas first and then plan things out while others just want to jump in and get their hands dirty! Let’s look at these different ways of learning that some people call: MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES

11 LEARNING STRENGTHS SECTION 1 o I like to tell jokes, tell stories or tales. o Books are important to me o I like to read o I often listen to radio, TV, tapes or CDs o I write easily and enjoy it o I quote things I’ve heard o I like crosswords and word games SECTION 2 o I know about my feelings, strengths and weaknesses o I like to learn more about myself o I enjoy hobbies by myself o I enjoy being alone sometimes o I have confidence in myself o I like to work alone o I think about things and plan what to do next

12 LEARNING STRENGTHS SECTION 3 o I solve math problems easily o I enjoy math and using computers o I like strategy games o I wonder how things work o I like using logic to solve problems o I reason things out o I like to use data in my work, to measure, calculate and analyze SECTION 4 o I shut my eyes and see clear pictures o I think in pictures o I like colour and interesting designs o I can find my way around unfamiliar areas o I draw and doodle o I like books with pictures, maps and charts. o I like videos, movies and pictures

SECTION 6 o I get uncomfortable when I sit too long o I like to touch or be touched when talking o I use my hands when speaking o I like working with my hands on crafts/hobbies o I touch things to learn more about them o I think of myself as well coordinated o I learn by doing rather than by watching
