PSNH "The Right Way" Attorney at Law: Simeon Marklin, Esq. MBA : Environmental Science

Our Plants 1 Biomass plant (50 MW) 9 Hydroelectric plants (65 MW) 1 Solar Array at PSNH Energy Park (51kW) Merrimack Station (coal, 445 MW) Newington Station (400 MW, natural gas or oil) Schiller Station (100 MW coal or oil) Gets some power from Vermont Yankee (nuclear) Plans to purchase power from privately owned biomass and hydroelectric power plants as well as first commercial wind farm in NH

Our Initiative To promote effective harnessing of renewable energy in the Northeast as well as to use our resources that we have and our infrastructure. To give back our success to the community that helped out start (the Northeast). Our "Clean Energy Plan" Add to our work force of 1,500 employees Over 21% of our energy comes from renewable resources.

Clean Air Project A way to "scrub" mercury in coal and reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by more than 90% Key Benefits for New Hampshire: Will serve as a “bridge” over the next 10 to 20 years as we develop and build alternative energy sources on a much larger scale. Will provide over 300 construction jobs for the three-year period Drastic reduction in mercury and sulfur emissions—upon completion, Merrimack will be among the cleanest coal plants in the nation

Emission Levels

Scrubber Technology

The Norther Pass Project This is a DC power line that brings 1,200 Megawatts of power to NH from Qubec-Hydro Company Creates energy diversity and will bring reliable low cost power Hydro power is relatively low impact to the environment Will create 1,200 good paying jobs Will create 25 million dollars in new property taxes that will support communities and schools $259 - $316 million in increased economic output during construction phase PSNH has agreed to buy this power to ensure success $200 million dollars in electricity savings when first line is opened

Figures S&P: BBB+ rating Clean Air Project at Merrimack Station was about 84% completed as of 6/30/11 S&P: Upgraded rating on 5/16/11 New Hampshire has adopted the goal reducing its total greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent below 1990 levels by the year 2050
