4.  The Leaving Cert exam is essay based.  You are required to answer 6 essay style questions in 3 hours.  A good level of English is required.  Essay should be logical, well-structured and include well developed points.  An interest in the Ancient World.  An interest in exploring literature, art, history, philosophy.

5.  Do I need to have studied Greek or Latin at Junior Cert?  No, definitely not.  Little or no language is required for the Classical Studies course.  We use English translations of all texts.

6.  Students who study Classical Studies in 5 th year get first preference for laces on the Poetry Classical Italian trip.  Usually around Easter time.  Visit Rome, Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius.
