Training – Initial and annual Planning – included in your SOPs Notification – Report to the fire department Inspections – Storage areas (new and used products) Documentation – Maintenance logs, POL storage maintenance, secondary containment use, inspections

4 ForYourTodayForTheirTomorrowForYourTodayForTheirTomorrow SPCC4 1.SAFETY FIRST – DONT BE A HERO 2.CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT 3.CONTAIN THE SPILL IF POSSIBLE 4.EVACUATE IF NEEDED The Basics of Spill Response:

6 ForYourTodayForTheirTomorrowForYourTodayForTheirTomorrow SPCC6 What information you’ll need: 1.LOCATION of the spill (building # is best, intersection is okay, unit information isn’t enough) 2.MATERIAL SPILLED JP-8, gasoline, batteries 3.WHERE where the spill is coming from (tank, vehicle, container, etc.) 4.WHERE the spill is going (pooling on concrete, dirt, running down the ditch) 5.NOTE any fumes, gasses, odors, (don’t go closer to sniff!) 5.CONDITIONS (raining, on a slope, within a creek) 6.CONTACT information – name and phone number

8 ForYourTodayForTheirTomorrowForYourTodayForTheirTomorrow SPCC8 Treat all spills as a Hazardous Substance NFPA 704 National Fire Protection Agency Label

9 ForYourTodayForTheirTomorrowForYourTodayForTheirTomorrow SPCC9 In Garrison: contact the Fire Department at 117 or or 911 On Ranges: contact Range Control at 287-3130 and monitor frequency 3045 (alternate) 3830 Away from Ft. Hood, call 911 and notify local authorities Procedures
