3 Florida ranks 3 rd in U.S. for the number of uninsured children. 42% of Florida’s children live in families 200% under FPL 40% of these are uninsured Florida ranks second in the nation for the percentage of children in the state without health insurance. 70% of uninsured children are eligible for CHIP

4 But … Many parents do not realize their children are eligible!

5  Anyone can get coverage in Florida KidCare  It is what you pay that varies from family to family

6  Was created by the 1998 Florida Legislature in response to SCHIP legislation  SCHIP is a federal/state matching funds program  Affordable health insurance for Florida’s children

7 Be uninsured Under age 19 Currently reside in Florida Be a U.S. citizen or qualified non-citizens Non-citizens qualify for full pay

8  Eligibility for the Florida KidCare program is based on family size and household income.  Those families with incomes under 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) may be eligible for subsidized health coverage.  Families over 200% FPL are eligible for coverage at full pay rate.

10  Children’s Medicaid – Children from birth through 18 years; no premiums or co- payments  Medikids – Children 1 through 4 years that are not Medicaid eligible; $15-$20 per month per family – Full Pay $196 per month per child. No co-pays.

11  Florida Healthy Kids – children 5 through 18 that are not Medicaid eligible; $15-$20 per month per family – Full pay $133 per month per child with dental, $121 per month per child without dental. Small co-pays.  Children’s Medical Services Network CMSN – children from birth through 18 years who have special health care needs, or ongoing medical conditions including behavioral health.
