Content Standards Activities/Assessment 11/12 R 2.3: Verify and clarify facts in other types of texts using a variety of consumer, workplace, and public documents  Students will read safety information from a variety of sources such as equipment manuals for electrical hazards, labels from cleaning solutions, health and safety brochures, CAL- OSHA documents etc.  Students will discuss and analyze how headings, fonts, color, and graphics are used to help convey the author’s message. Content Standards Activities/Assessment 9/10 R 1.1: Identify and use the literal and figurative meanings of words and understand word derivations.  Students will prepare index cards with word parts to practice terminology.  Students will use interactive computer software to practice word parts, pronunciation, and definitions.  Students will use a medical dictionary to look up word origins, including mythological references, and practice pronunciation.
