Medieval Paintings

I chose these paintings because they were very colourful and they caught my eye the minute I saw them. Also what caught my eye was the details in the paintings and the colour in it. When I was looking for pictures I also found the paintings very interesting and very different from now in days. Also what I found different was that the paintings had details that in now and days don’t have that much and their so original I find. There not like the paintings that have no meaning to them they do have meanings to them and a history behind them. In the medieval times the Europeans made them for times of years with oil paint, water paint and pastels also they made it with clay which wasn’t very common then. They took about four months working on one painting. Most of the paintings made were figures for the Church and paintings also. Even the artist took a little time to pay attention to make the paintings and figures most realistic. These paintings were all made in the medieval times. They were all famous these paintings no matter what these paintings were very special to the Greeks because old artists had made them with luck as they say. When these paintings were made people that wanted these paintings had to be quite wealthy to by the paintings.

Medieval Sculptures Medieval Sculptures

Medieval Sculptures These sculptures were made in the 17 th century in the medieval times and were very common as I said before. What they used to make these sculptures were a chisel, a punch( which is a hammer but back then they called it a punch) and also they used a paint brush to paint it if needed. I chose these Sculptures because they had caught my eye and they have details once again their very well made as you can see it mite of took a lot of time to make this. When they made these sculptures it had a history to it and was very special. You may not see a lot of this sculptures but back then they were very common. So that’s why I chose those sculptures.

The Jousting Shield The jousting shield is to protect there side from the lance. On the shield there is a picture of the knights Coat of Arms. The coat of arms represents the knights last name. The Jousting Armor The jousting armor is used to protect the knights body if they don’t have a shield. It was made out of metal that the blacksmiths made. The knights must have been strong to hold up all that armor!

Drawing Expert medieval art By Melanie Miller

Information How they made the drawings… The medieval people made most of their drawings in charcoal. They used charcoal because back then they didn’t have fancy coloring pencils and markers, so they used nature. For black they used charcoal, for colors they used fruit… EX: red: strawberries, orange:oranges (etc.) Why I like the drawings: I like the drawings because the men and women who made them had to figure out a way to make it (color or black) and then when they decided they had to go out in there spare time and go get the materials for the drawing… they had to go pick enough fruit and make the juice for the color.
