2 Anxiety – Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older (18% of U.S. population). Depression – Depression affects approximately 14.8 million American adults, or about 6.7 percent of the U.S. population age 18 and older in a given year. – Persistent depressive disorder, or PDD, is a form of depression that usually continues for at least two years.

3 Depression- “a common mental disorder, characterized by sadness, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, feelings of tiredness and poor concentration.” World Health Organization 10 percent of adults are currently experiencing the symptoms of major depression! The second most common cause of disability worldwide Women are twice as likely as men to have depression Chronic symptoms tend to appear, on average, in girls around ages 12-13

4 People with a strong belief in a personal, concerned God, were 75% more likely to OVERCOME depression when combined with proper medical treatment!
