SECURUS Security Software Systems Ltd How do victims feel? “One girl told me she would come and murder my parents and kill me personally. She made me cry so hard that I threw up.” “This one guy asked me how I looked and wanted to know about my body and stuff and I just flat out told him to leave me alone. I would have reported him but the ISP wouldn’t even let me block him without parental permission. So he bullied me and stuff whenever I got on. It was horrible. That was four years ago, and I still remember everything he said to me. Every exact word. I felt awful. I hated it. I wanted to tell my parents, but I was afraid they would never let me chat again…” “I feel powerless to do anything because I am so scared for my own safety…” …”it makes me feel bad and depressed…like I don’t want to be part of this world any more…”

SECURUS Security Software Systems Ltd Recent Study from York A recent independent study by York St John University into the impact of Securus monitoring software has revealed that only 51% of participating schools believe they were effective in dealing with cyberbullying on school PCs before installing this technology. However, since the installation of Securus, all felt confident that they are effective in dealing with PC based cyberbullying. Ninety-six schools from across the UK took part in the study with nine-out of-ten agreeing that Securus is effective at identifying online grooming and visits to inappropriate web sites. This compared with only half of schools who said they were effective at identifying these behaviours themselves. The majority of schools reported that before installing Securus, they felt their blocking and filtering software was insufficient for tackling inappropriate use of ICT and now have greater peace of mind for their pupils’ safety.
