Vision: NATO Allied Command Transformation building a capability to share information between civilian and military actors. The capability consists of a web-portal, presence information and dedicated information knowledge management (IKM) supported and maintained by a fusion centre. –Promoting awareness of other players, based on principles of willingness and appropriate levels of mutual understanding. –Fostering de-confliction between actors, based on principles of information sharing, respect and transparency. –Bringing selected actors together to cooperate on managing potential or current crisis through common analysis, shared interests and objectives. –Achieving coherence on a case-by-case basis characterized by collaborative planning and concerted action initiated at the political-strategic level. Royal Netherlands Army C2 The Royal Netherlands Army (RNLA) Command and Control Support Center develops, tests, and implements all army command-and-control (C2) systems. “Improving command and control isn’t only a national goal; it’s international. If you look at all the military operations going on in the world today, they are all international operations” Col. Geerlof Kanis, Commander, Command and Control Support Center, RNLA
19
RNLA C2 Systems Applications and projects within the scope of the Command, Control, Communication, and Information Architecture include: –Theatre Independent Tactical Army and Air Force Network (TITAAN) an integrated network that supports all data and telephony communication within disparate operational command posts. –Integrated Staff Information System (ISIS) an electronic, map-based solution for sharing information in support of command and control for staffs at the battalion or brigade level and higher. – Battlefield Management System (BMS) a C2 system with similar functionality as ISIS but specialized to support the command chain from battalion staff level to the lowest command levels, all the way down to individual tanks, jeeps, and trucks. –Advanced Fire Support Information System to support the command-and- control functions of artillery and mortar units. –Tactical Messaging System (TMS) developed to automatically distribute, register, and archive formal military messages, either internal staff communication or communication between units.
