3. II. Traditional treatments of the person of Jesus 1.Humanity of Jesus a. Virgin Conception—Matt. 1:18ff, Lk. 1:26, Is. 7:14

4. 1.Fulfills the seed of the woman promise— Gen. 3:15 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

10. d. Necessity of humanity 1. Representative (active) obedience-Rom. 5:18 18 Therefore, as one trespass (trespass of one) led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.

11. 2. Substitutionary sacrifice--Rom. 5:8 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Sympathize as high priest—Heb. 2:16-17 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people
