Student Services office 3rd floor of the new building, near the Library Open Tuesday – Thursday 12-15 Student certificates, transcripts of study records, enrolment Certificates for public transportation and student restaurants Exchange students: Signing and stamping papers from your home university, such as arrival certificate Advice for international students: Ms. Helena Härkönen and Ms. Juuli Kenkkilä –Contact persons for HOAS and other authorities –General advice on registrations and practical issues

Personal key card To get a personal key card for entering the School’s premises during evenings and weekends: Ask for a permit from your department Take the permit to the main entrance info point, bring your ID with you You’ll get a key and a personal entry code Remember to return the key before leaving!

Aalto University Arabia Campus Library (Aralis) Campus library for Art and Design students, 3rd floor (new side) –Information services for students –Online services: databases and dictionaries –Literature, magazines, audiovisual material Facilities include –Workstations & IT classroom –Reading room Library card from the information desk www.aralis.fi/en Note that the Campus library is housed within a branch of the Helsinki city library – both have their own library cards and systems

Introduction in English to the Aalto University Arabia Campus Library This two-hour session introduces you to: - How the Finnish library system works. - What the Aalto University Library’s collections, services and facilities are. - How to find information using the library database. - How to find and use information effectively and improve your information skills. Open sessions for all new international students at the library’s computer room! Health Care for Students Note: Health Care options depend on your status: –MA student or exchange student? –EU or non-EU? Primary health care for MA students: YTHS (or FSHS – Finnish Student Health Service) –ONLY for members of the Student Union AYY (exchange students have the option to join) –3 locations in the Helsinki region –Töölö service point: open Mon-Fri 8-16 –Health and medical care, mental health and dental care –Appointments free of charge or for a small fee –Remember to show your Student Union card

Health Care: EU or Non-EU? EU/EEA citizens + Australian and Swiss citizens –Access to the city’s health stations –With the European Health Insurance Cards –Regular fee of EUR 13,40 Non-EU citizens –Only emergency treatment from the city, with real costs charged –Private health care, e.g. www.mehilainen.fi

Student Card & Benefits Student Cards: School’s own card for internal purposes (for exchange students only) Official national student card– for Student Union members only Note that the student benefits in stores, restaurants and museums are usually only offered for students with the official national student card, but sometimes might be available with the School’s card, if you ask about it

Registrations: EU exchange students Change of address: in any post office or on the website of the Finnish post, www.posti.fi –Remember to submit at arrival and when leaving EU citizen’s registration –At the Malmi Police Station in Helsinki, address: Viljatie 2B (or the police station of your municipality, if other than Helsinki) –You’ll need: your national proof of identity or passport Student certificate and proof having adequate health insurance cover EUR 47

Registrations: Non-EU MA students Change of address: in any post office or on the website of the Finnish post, www.posti.fi –Remember to submit at arrival and when leaving Registering at the Local Register Office –At the Helsinki Civil Registration Office, address: Albertinkatu 25 (or the civil registration office of your municipality, if other than Helsinki) –You’ll need: Student certificate Residence permit Passport Possibile marriage certificates etc. The registration is subject to a fee Remember to renew your residence permit at the local police next spring!
