3. 3 What is the Office of Multimedia (OM)? The Office of Multimedia staff provides the Office of the Administrator and others creative services and access to state-of-the- art technology through Video, Photography and Graphics. Home of Studio One and IPTV, OM uses engaging broadcast content to serve the entire EPA. All requests for services are handled on a priority basis. 5. 5 History of video on the Web: what does it all mean?  Over 70% of all Internet traffic is now video  Bandwidth problems that plagued rich media have dissipated.  Hesitation by some sectors (Government, Non-profits) to use video is no longer warranted: Section 508 hurdles successfully navigated.

13. 13 Shooting: Tips for capturing excellent content  Use a fluid head tripod to steady the camera.  Shots should be tight in on the subject  Panning should be limited.  Audio (lavaliers and ambient audio)  Lighting for web video can be different since compressing video sometimes darkens images by 10% (although this can be mitigated somewhat in the post-production process)

14. 14 Objective of Compression  Reduce video file size without reducing quality using a video codec. Equal parts technology equal parts art. Remember!  Do not recompress video. Recompressing video leads to quality degradation, such as artifacts.  Make your video as short as possible. Trim the beginning and end of your video so it is as short as possible, and edit your video to remove any unnecessary content. No black fadeups!  Adjust your compression settings. Test your footage, and modify it until you find the best setting possible for the video you are compressing.  Limit effects and rapid movement. Any kind of movement, particularly with many colors, increases file size.
