Our Nation’s Finest Airmen Delivering and Advancing Space Power for America - The 30 SW has the finest Airmen -- We have won numerous awards (Kutyna for spacelift, best services) -- We do launch, range, installation, and deployment well - We deliver Space power -- VAFB at front of delivering space power through lift -- Facilities, MDG, support Missile defense etc - We advance Space Power -- Capability to warfighter with launches -- Keep the vision of space power, it is yours to grab

3 The 30th Space Wing Mission
To Defend the United States through Exceptional Launch, Range, Expeditionary, and Installation Operations - Launch -- We are fielding the MDA capability to block inbound missiles -- Putting reconnaissance & other satellites on orbit -- Testing ICBM weapon systems - Range -- We support F-22 and F-35 testing, air borne laser programs -- We manage the Western range, map in few slides -- Collect, validate test data -- Ensure public is protected - Expeditionary -- We deploy more than any other AFSPC base -- You may be called to support GWOT in theater - Installation Ops -- 99k acres, 3rd largest AFB -- MDG, SF, CE, Services etc make it all happen

ICBM Test Launches Space Launch to the South First Land Overflight is South America or Antarctica Satellite Insertion into a Polar Orbit Coverage of the Entire Globe Photography Reconnaissance Missile Detection Communications Earth Observation 7 MDA events – targets, intercept tests, and first KEI 4 Delta IIs, including COSMO-3 MM III backlog First Atlas V - NROL-28 Next Delta IV – NROL-25 - We launch over the Pacific, Cape over the Atlantic -- Both ICBM test into the pacific ocean -- Missile defense, protecting our nation, interceptors, targets, new booster designs - Spacelift -- Geography gives us best position to launch over water --- Ensures spent stages or errant vehicles don’t impact on land -- Polar orbits scan entire earth

11 Local Area Safety Unexploded Ordnance Dangerous Roads Fog Speeding
Deer Strikes Cell Phones Headphones/Safety Vests Wingman Culture Launch Safety - Was Cooke Army Base- Artillery training ground -- Please stay on roads for safety - Drive safely in bad weather -- Fog rolls in most evenings, out around 1000 -- Always drive with headlights on, even daylight - Deer, coyotes – strikes every day, -- Feeding time at dawn & dusk, be extra cautious then - Don’t use cell phones driving on base, extends from SM to Lompoc -- Can use “hands free”, soon to be state law - No headphones while running on base roads -- Be visible in foggy/dark conditions, wear reflective gear - Wingmen take care of each other
