2. PCSC Summer School Times Building Hours – 7:30 – 3:00 Class – 8:00 – 2:30 Lunch – 30 minutes – time TBD

3. Attendance & Tardies Students missing more than three (3) days (excused or unexcused) will be removed from the class. No refund will be given and no credit earned. Students who arrive/leave 30 minutes early or late count as an absence (excused or unexcused). Attendance will be taken in the morning and after lunch. Four (4) tardies is equal to one absence.

4. Student Behavior PCSC students are expected to conduct themselves in a safe, respectful, and professional manner. Attending summer school is a privilege. Minor Infractions First infraction – warning Second infraction – possible short term suspension Third infraction – removal from class & loss of credit Major Infractions Short term suspension or removal from class & loss of credit

5. Dress Code No short skirts, revealing tops/bottoms, sagging pants/shorts. No chains, sunglasses, pajamas, blankets. No clothing or items that symbolize, represent, or exhibit gang-related behavior. No clothing that promotes drugs, alcohol, obscene behavior, etc. The judgment of the staff as to appropriateness of student dress and/or decorum is final.

6. Medication Students are not permitted to possess or take medication of any kind (over the counter or prescription). Students with health plans are required to store medication with the site administrator.

8. COURSE DESCRIPTION Students will learn how to use digital cameras to photograph and express the elements and principles of design. Composition, photo editing, photo rules, computer applications, photo retouching, and standard digital alterations will be studied. Washington State EALRs, GLEs, and Math and Science Standards will be taught and assessed.

9. Grading Classroom participation and behavior are significant parts of the grade. Effort, attitude, respect, interest and imagination are encouraged and rewarded. Standards- based grading will be used. Grade Weight Scale Professionalism/Classroom Behavior/Participation/Attendance 25% Summative Assignments – Daily Projects 50% Summative Final Grade - Portfolio 25%

10. ACCEPTABLE INTERNET AND COMPUTER BEHAVIOR Use of the Internet provides great educational benefits to students. Unfortunately some material that is accessible via the Internet may contain items that are illegal, defamatory, or potentially offensive to some people. Access to the Internet and use of a computer is given as a privilege to students who agree to act in a considerate and responsible manner. We require students, parents and guardians to read and sign the following rules for acceptable on-line and computer behavior.

11. Internet 1. Students are responsible for good behavior on the Internet just as they are in school. General school rules for behavior and communications apply when students use school computers. 2. Network storage areas are, and may be treated like, school lockers. Network administrators may review files and communications to maintain system integrity and to ensure users are using the system responsibly. Users should not expect files to be private.

12. 3. The following are NOT permitted: a. Sending or receiving non-school related e-mail; sending or displaying offensive messages or pictures; printing and or downloading inappropriate material. b. Using obscene language – orally or in written form. c. Harassing, insulting, or attacking others orally or in written form. d. Damaging computers, computer systems, cameras, or computer networks. e. Violating copyright laws. f. Using or deleting other students’ passwords, folders or files. g. Trespassing in other students’ folders, or files; trespassing in system folders and files. h. Employing the network for commercial purposes. i. Revealing the personal address or phone number of yourself or any other person. 4. Violations may result in a loss of access to computers as well as other disciplinary or legal actions.

13. Safety Any safety violations may result in immediate dismissal from program.

14. Technology All students must agree to the “Internet Code of Conduct” mentioned earlier. Violation of the policy may result in disciplinary action, removal from the class, and loss of credit.

15. Acknowledgement Form The student/parent acknowledgement form must be signed and returned on the 2 nd day of class.
