2 NETS Standards 1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. 8 Cumberland Island eBook The eBook project in MEDT 7468 required me to create an entire eBook that could be used in a classroom setting. (2b) I developed the eBook for an 8 th grade Georgia History class, the eBook was also designed to meet Georgia state standards. I met all legal and copyright requisites on this assignment by citing all of my sources throughout the eBook. (4a) This assignment was designed to be viewed by all types of learners. (4b) The viewer can either read the eBook themselves or choose to listen to the author’s narration. The photos on each page also go along with the story of the eBook. On this assignment I was able to learn how to successfully create an eBook in Microsoft PowerPoint. (3) I also learned a good deal of information about Cumberland Island. This assignment also taught me how to overcome problems while making PowerPoint presentations. (1a) After this assignment was over, I was able to reflect back on the assignment via the class discussion board. (10) I gained valuable insights from my colleagues on how to better my project. 10 “Green Sense” DST Project In the “Green Sense” digital storytelling project that was created in MEDT 7466, I was able to take a current issue (recycling and conservation) and create a video comprised of images taken by group members and myself. (1b) This assignment was a culminating activity of sorts in my digital photography class. This activity allowed us to use what we had been taught all semester and compile it into one project. This project was also a collaborative effort, I collaborated with 4 other group members in my class. (1d) (5) I exhibited leadership skills in this task because, I made sure all group members were on the same page. (5b) (2) I also made sure to set deadlines for each group member and assign each member a specific task. This project demonstrated cultural sensitivity by bringing to light the problem that we have with pollution in the United States. (6) It was the goal of my group to point out the problem we have as a country and provide possible solutions. 12 Bridge Resource Site The bridge resource site was created in MEDT 7467. I was charged with the task of creating an instructional website that could be used in my classroom. (2a) The website I created is an interactive site that was created using Microsoft Expression Web. (2c) This site addresses all learning styles and all ability level of students. (4) The site includes, videos, tutorials, and an interactive quiz. (5a)The interactive quiz will help prepare the students for the unit test that is given after the bridge activity is completed in my classroom. (2d) This activity taught me that I should try and implement more interactive and visual activities in my classroom to appeal to all types of students. 14 Edited video with voiceover This project was assigned to me in MEDT 7470. T he assignment was to create an edited video that included photos, video and a voiceover. I enjoyed this project because, it let me showcase some of my skills in video editing. (3a) (8) I used iMovie 09 program to compose and finalize my video. (3c) I also used Garageband 09 to record and edit my voiceover for the project. (3d) The video was about the war between Mac and Microsoft. I wanted to choose a topic relevant to my subject (technology). I hope to eventually use this video in my classroom when we discuss the origins of Microsoft and Macintosh. 16 Henry County Project The Henry County Project was an assignment in my MEDT 7472 class. Each class member was divided into groups and asked to assess a teacher’s (from Henry County) website. Our class used a “wiki” to keep up with each group’s progress on the website review. (1c)(5c) The website was assessed using a rubric created by my professor, Dr. Huett. We were then required to grade each website using the rubric, we had to go through and make sure each standard for the class was addressed through the site. Each group member had to collaborate with their group and make decisions about which parts of the website needed to be revised. (3b) (4c) (1) This was a very tedious process but, I think the Henry County teachers really gained some valuable feedback from our class. (3c) As a teacher, I found this project to be one of the most valuable projects that I completed in the program, this project gave each student the experience of being an instructional technology specialist for a few weeks.
