3 INTRODUCCTION London is the capital of England and the UK. It´s the biggest city in Britain and in Europe. Has a population of 7.56 million (approximetly)

4 London is made up of two cities: - The city of London, know as “the City” - The city of Westminter

5 In London we can find a lot of cultures, religion and languages.

6 London has a temperate marine climate: summers are warm with average temperatures of 23ºC, and winters are cold, usually the temperatures are around 2-8 ºC.

7 CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS January: In the first day of January they celebrate the New Year at the Big Ben and when the clock strikes midnight, people link their arms and sing this song: “Auld Lang Syne”.

8 February: 2 nd is celebrate Candlemas Day. April: 23 of April is celebrated St. George Day. St. George is the patron of England and it´s represented as a knight carrying a shield with a red cross, generally sitting upon a horse and always killing a dragon.

9 September: It´s celebrate the Regents Street Festival October: 31 st they celebrate Halloween

10 November: 5 th it´s celebrated Guy Fawkes Night. In this night people meet in parks to observe the fireworks and burn an effigy of the outlaw.

11 THE MOST TRADITIONAL CEREMONIES Changing of the Guard: Every day a new guard of thirty guardsmen marches to the palace and replace the old guard.

12 Trooping of the Colour: Is a military ceremony celebrate to remember the fallen soldier and the officer of that regiment. The Trooping of the Colour. This ceremony it´s realize on the British Sovereign´s birthday.

13 The largest religious group  Christian (Anglican). St. Paul Cathedral and Southwark Cathedral  Anglican administrative centers Westminster Abbey  Britain´s kings and queens are crowned London is also home to other religions: Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Jewish. - Around two fifths (2/5) of Muslim lives in London. - Over half of Britain´s Hindu population lives in this city. - 31 per cent of the Sikh lives in London. - 56 per cent of Jewish lives there. 14 WHAT TO SEE IN LONDON? Royalty: Buckingham Palace: In the beginning of the eighteen century the owner of this Palace was the Dukes of Buckingham. Today it is the Queen´s official residence.

15 Kensington Palace: Is a working royal residence.

16 Tower of London: Today this tower is one of the world´s most famous and spectacular fortresses.

17 Museums: British museum: It´s a human history and culture museum.

18 Entertainment: Madame Tussauds: It is a wax museum.

19 London Eye: This big wheel it is the most popular attraction.

20 Globe Theatre: It´s a site dedicated to the exploration of Shakespeare´s work.

21 Shopping: Oxford street Harrods Regent street

22 Landmarks: Tower Bridge: It´s one of the most famous and photographed bridges in the world.

23 Trafalgar Square: This square it´s situated at the heart of London.

24 Big Ben: Is an integral part of Westminster Palace.

25 Religious: Westminster Abbey: In this Abbey every monarch has been crowned.

26 St. Paul´s Cathedral: Is the UK´s premier religious cathedral.

27 Other: Portobello Market: Possibly it´s one of the largest antique markets in the world. Covent Garden: Is the place to get something, to make an intermediate between the sightseeing, relax and enjoy with the huge variety of streets artists.  
