1.God reminds Israel what HE has done for them in rescuing them from Egypt 2.God says that if the Israelites will ‘obey’ Him fully and ‘keep’ His covenants – they will be special to Him 3.God says what He will do if Israel agrees to #2 – they will be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation DURING MOSES’ MEETING WITH GOD 3 INSTRUCTIONS WERE GIVEN FOR THE PEOPLE

18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain [a] trembled violently.a 19 As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him. Remember – law is NEVER a means of salvation but it is always a result of salvation The 10 Commandments demonstrate love – God’s love to us – and calls forth love – from us to God and other people. THE COVENANT WAS THE LAW
