The International Organization for Migration (IOM) IOM supports Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in: Resettlement Assistance Health Assessment Pre-departure Orientation Visa Application Services Needs Assessments, Cultural and Medical Profiles IOM works with Canadian Provinces and Territories for: Documents integrity and verification services Seasonal and Temporary Migrant Training IOM also implements projects for other Federal Agencies including: Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD)

4. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Migrant Training Programs IOM has been conducting migrant training for over 60 years. IOM provides training to over 40,000 migrants every year. In 2013, IOM implemented 55 migrant training projects including: Canadian Orientation Abroad (15 sites; 13 000) United States Cultural Orientation (21 sites; 18 000) Australian Cultural Orientation (21 sites; 4 000) Norwegian Cultural Orientation (5 sites; 650) UK Cultural Orientation (5 sites; 600) Other CO programs (e.g. The Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Japan) Other Migrant training activities (e.g. Language training, computer literacy, seasonal and temporary migrants)

Canadian Orientation Abroad Canadian pre-departure initiatives In Canada, there are currently three (in-person) pre-departure orientation projects: COA - Canadian Orientation Abroad (1998) CIIP - Canadian Immigrant Integration Programme (2005) AEIP - Active Engagement and Integration Project (2008) From 2005-2006 to 2010-2011, over 87,000 participants received pre-departure orientation training through one of the three initiatives. The Canadian Orientation Abroad (COA) provided orientation to 94% of those clients (82,218).

6. Canadian Orientation Abroad COA Background Information COA provides settlement information that helps newcomers make informed decisions about their upcoming move to Canada. Since its inception, COA has trained over 170,000 persons. COA’s targets for 2013-2014 is 16,320 participants. Refugees (GARs, PSRs and VORs); Federal Skilled Workers (FSWs); Provincial Nominees (PNs); Members of the Family Class (FC) Live-in Caregivers (LCPs) and; Investors
