13 Japan Earthquake March 11, 2011, 8.9-magnitude quake caused 13-15 ft tsunami. Almost 90,000 homes, 4,000 roads and over 70 bridges were destroyed. ShelterBox was one of the first aid agencies to respond SRT on the ground within 24 hours to assess need 1,680 ShelterBoxes deployed to the area. Japan, March 2011

14 Horn of Africa Drought In July 2011, drought, famine & conflict swept across East Africa. UN figures: over 860,000 Somali refugees in region. Thousands of refugees arrived in camps in Ethiopia & Kenya. SRTs travelled to both countries to assess need for shelter. Nearly 8,000 ShelterBox tents distributed, housing nearly 8,000 families. Largest distribution of ShelterBox aid to one disaster in 2011.

17 Zimbabwe Flooding In February 2014, the Masvingo Province of Zimbabwe experienced severe flooding after torrential rainfalls hit the region SRTs worked in close partnership with the International Organization for Migration SRTs distributed 805 tents in Chingwizi Camp to displaced Zimbabweans

18 Bolivia Flooding In February 2014, heavy rains caused slow onset flooding across much of the central and northern parts of Bolivia Close to 60,000 families had their homes damaged and 84,000 cattle have been lost, creating a possibility of a food crisis ShelterBox and Oxfam worked together to distribute aid to families in need

20 Volunteers ShelterBox Response Teams (SRT) assess the need and distribute aid on the ground. Warehouse Volunteers are on hand to pack ShelterBox aid. Volunteer Speakers represent ShelterBox around the UK.
