Your group will design and create a planet. You will be responsible for developing the conditions of your planet. You will design a probe or rover for your planet. This project is worth over 300 points so stay focused and contribute to your group.

Choose and list 10 planet conditions. Wind Temperature Gravity Magnetic Field Gases, Moon/s Terrain Objects in Atmosphere Structure (example: mantel, core, crust) Orbit around Sun Distance from the Sun Length of a day How long will it take to travel here from Earth?

List of probe/rover instruments that measures each of the 10 conditions. Schematic drawing of space probe/rover and is completed on time. *Model must be original and designed and created as a team. It cannot be something you bring from home. Build a 3-D model of the probe/rover this will be done with the assistance of FVTC. You must use your time wisely during the development and construction in the FAB LAB.

After reading The Green Book. You will writ a space exploration and colonization story. Everyone will complete their own story! Part 1: Why did you leave earth? Why was each member of your team selected? What materials are you taking along and why? Part 2: Explain your voyage to your new planet. What was your spacecraft? What were your travel conditions? How long was your voyage? Part 3: What are the conditions of the planet you were colonizing? Relate this to your space instrumentation and results.

Part 4: How can human life or other forms of life exist on this planet? What are the challenges you face in colonization? Part 5: Conclusion: Summarize your story. Describe life on your planet one year after arrival/colonization. Story is… Written and a minimum of 3 pages typed Size 12 font (Calibri or Times New Roman) Double spaced Includes all five requirements above Uses correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, capitalization, etc.

#1 Organize Government #2 Create Constitution #3 Write Constitution

Constitution that includes the following concepts: Protecting the rights of the people. (1 st, 2 nd, 4 th,5 th, 6 th, 7 th, 8 th, 9 th ) Specific rights people are guaranteed. (3 rd, 10 th, 13 th, 15 th, 19 th, 26 th ) Responsibilities of citizenship. (14 th, How do you become a citizen?) Separation of powers. (16 th, 12 th, 22 nd ) System of check and balances. (Articles I, II, and III)

Ability to create and amend laws. (Article 5) Create 10 laws that must be obeyed on your planet. Give the consequence for laws if they are not obeyed. Paper is revised and edited for punctuation, spelling, grammar and neatness.

Powerpoint Slide Presentation Each person on team will do 5 slides. Assign one each for: title, planet, shelter, environment, and picture of each member and their name. Two related photos that must fit your planet from the NASA website. Using faceinhole.com make an image of your team in space. All slides use transitions, using several different types.

2 - laser cutters 1- Router 2 - 3D printers…so cool! Laptops to work on probe/rover Machines will be kept in Mrs. Westphal’s room for approximately 3 weeks starting January 11 th – February 1 st Steve Gallagher from Fox Valley Tech. Will be coming to talk with us on January 7 th to explain the probe/rover project.

Shelter can be made from materials found on your planet. All items are securely attached. No stray marks, smudges, or glue stains. Creative design. Several objects used in diorama. On table for showcase, effort went into planning and designing. Class time used wisely.

Possibly January 18 th ? To be determined Yet!

Presentation Board Must Include: Your names Picture(s) of you Name of planet in bold Picture of planet Constitution List of 10 conditions 1 page script introduction Neatness Mechanics (spelling, grammar, and punctuation!)

On Table: 3D probe/rover Your story Shelter PowerPoint You: Appropriate behavior (NO GUM, DRINKS, or FOOD!) Set up area neatly and on time.

One-page script introduction when all is complete Rover/Probe design and construction in FAB LAB at Madison PowerPoint Constitution for Planet Conditions of planet Shelter necessary to survive on planet Presentation Board

Story Science Fiction based on traveling to your planet. You will hear the story The Green Book to help you set-up the story elements. Do not start working on this story until that story is completed in CA class.

270 points for Science, CA, and History See Rubric Team Innovation, we can’t wait to see what you can come up with.
