Objective: You will use knowledge of compositional strategies in order make an abstract watercolor that demonstrates a verb or phrase. DRILL: Thursday and Friday- just get started. Today- learn abstract watercolor- work on watercolor or acrylic. 1.Get a cup of water, brush for watercolor, and newspaper square for drying brush. 2.We will look at a few ideas for showing action or concepts in abstract painting. 3.Goal: To pick one or more of Richard Serra’s phrases or verbs and attempt to make an artwork that shows that word.

DRILL: 1.Get started right away. 2.These are your priorities: 1.Research 1-3 abstract artists. Paint like them in your sketchbook/ altered book. Learn 3-5 facts. 2.Non-objective Acrylic painting with successful composition. 3.Non-objective Watercolor piece demonstrating Richard Serra’s verbs. 4.15 pages in altered book. (3 required goals- 1.Draw a person from observation. 2.Imitate an artist’s style or culture. 3.The study of something.
