1 Blind Contour

2 Blind Contour Drawing A blind contour drawing is a line drawing that is created without looking at the paper.  one concentrates intensely on the item that he/she is drawing and tries to draw the many shifts of lines and tangents of lines seen.  These types of drawings enhance one’s eye-hand coordination and create a better awareness of changes of form and space Contour - in art refers to the outside edges, as well as the defined enclosed edges, of a person, object or mass.

3 Artist: Ian Sklarsky Born in Chicago and based in Brooklyn. Age 30. He is know for creating abstract portraits using the blind contour technique. He uses pen and ink and water color. Skalarsky says that by not picking up the pencil it allows the hand to trace the image from ones brain He peruses this method because of the way it captures the essence of his subject They create a sense of rhythm and movement while capturing the essence of the character of the subject Most of the time the errors are what bring out the character – We are not perfect – failing is just another term for perfecting an action His art is to show that there aren't any wrongs Rhythm is a principle of art that's difficult to summarize in words. Assuming that you've picked up on a rhythm in music before, take what you heard with your ears and try to translate that to something you'd see with your eyes. Rhythm, in art, is a visual beat. Movement shows actions, or alternatively, the path the viewer's eye follows throughout an artwork. Movement is caused by using elements under the rules of the principles in picture to give the feeling of motion and to guide the viewer's eyes throughout the artwork.
