2 What is Alternative Park Art? The Alternative Park Art creates opportunities for young children of the Lehigh Valley and beyond to express themselves creatively through alternative community art workshops. Our goal with these classes is to make available unique types of learning experiences that anyone can take part in regardless of their level of income.

3 The Alternative Gallery established June 16 2012, is presenting alternative summer art classes for children between the ages of 5 and 17 years old. Students can experience full summer single-day art sessions for a one-time $20 fee Wednesdays from 12:30PM to 2:30PM. All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Classes will be held in West Park. Materials are included in the cost unless otherwise indicated in the class description. In the event of inclement weather, classes will be held in the Alternative Gallery, located on 4 th and Tilghman St.

4 SAMPLE ALTERNATIVE ART PARK CLASSES & INSTRUCTORS: June 25th: Trashy Art Reduce, reuse and recycle for real. Create a bold painting on a plain new trashcan. (Rafael Menendez) July 2nd: No Brushes Allowed Abstract painting with non-traditional materials. Use straws, hands, gravity and more to make awesome art! (Rob Riegel) July 9th: Cartoon Art Practice cartoon drawings of your favorite characters or invent your own. (Matt Martnick) July 16th: Design Your Duds Use yarn, felt, and fabrics to create wearable accessories. (Tatiana Hernandez) July 23rd: Ojo de Dios (Eye of God) Craft a decorative ancient symbol of Hispanic Culture using wool, wood and patterns. (Tatiana Hernandez) July 30th: Cave Into It (African Sandpaper Art) August 6th: Matrix Drawing August 13th: WatercolorMeBad August 20th: Wanna Henna ?

5 Upon completion of the Alternative Park Art classes, select students’ artwork will be featured in the Alternative Gallery with resident artists! Students, families, and members of the community will be invited to attend the art exhibit and the reception to celebrate.
