Write the electron shorthand for the elements, Lithium, Sodium and Potassium. Write the electron shorthand for Beryllium, Magnesium and Calcium. What do you notice about where they are in the periodic table and their electron arrangement? The group number tells you how many electrons are present in the outside shell!!
