Climate- weather patterns that an area typically experiences during a long period of time.

3. Weather- The condition of the atmosphere in one place during a short period of time.

4. Axis- imaginary line running from the north and south pole.

Effect- Temperature- a measure of how hot or cold something is.

Revolution- trip around the sun

Latitude-

Windward side- large amounts of rainfall
Leeward side- dry and becomes warmer
Rain Shadow- the hot, dry result of landforms.

11. Wind and Ocean Currents
Wind Patterns
Prevailing winds - winds that blow in fairly constant patterns.
Doldrums- windless patterns near the equator.

12. Ocean Currents- Cold and warm “rivers” of seawater.
Caused by the rotation of the earth, moving air, and differences in water temperature in the ocean.
