1 Fellowship “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” - Acts 2:42 (NIV) Fellowship is “being together and sharing interests and experiences in a congenial atmosphere.” Second Presbyterian offers many opportunities for members and visitors to experience fellowship. Supper Clubs The sharing of food, laughs, opinions, support and fun make for unforgettable fellowship memories. Groups (members and visitors) meet in homes or restaurants and are selected at random. 2 Men’s Fellowship Breakfast Men’s Fellowship meets for breakfast, fellowship and learning as we host speakers on a variety of topics. They enjoy an age- appropriate activity or movie together, while parents get to enjoy an evening of free time. Sometimes extra hands are needed for activities so parents are always welcome. 4 Kairos Worship Wednesday Evenings in Lent 2014 Create space in your week for Kairos. For seven Wednesdays during Lent, there were 30-minute Kairos Evening Worship services. It was an alternative time and opportunity for worship. Each of the seven weeks explored different ways to worship, while keeping within the bounds of our faith and tradition. 5 Church Picnic The annual Church Picnic and Worship Service is held at the Braeloch Pavilion on the grounds of beautiful Boxtree Lodge in Vinton. Members are encouraged to remain and explore the Boxtree grounds, ponds and trails after the picnic ends. Date: First Sunday in June Time: 10:00 a.m. Volunteers are needed on the evening prior to picnic, and on the day of the picnic (before, during and after). 6 Trent Get-Away at Masssanetta Springs Participants will gather on Friday afternoon (registration is from 3:00-6:00 p.m.) for a weekend program of study, worship, and recreation! All Second Presbyterian Church families and individuals are welcome! Childcare will be provided for younger children. Older Youth will enjoy a recreational program under the supervision of the Reverend Elizabeth Smith. The Reverend Reggie Weaver, Senior Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC, will be the featured speaker. Plan to come and be part of a fun-filled and meaningful church event! Saturday afternoon will afford time for you to enjoy elective recreational activities of your choosing. 7 GALS Gathering Each November, women of the church gather for an overnight spiritual retreat to renew, reflect and strengthen our faith. The GALS are multigenerational, ranging in age from early 20’s to mid 90’s. The time together with friends, old and new, always gives us the opportunity to focus on discovering our spiritual gifts and learning how to use them. Following the dinner, the traditional Christmas Pageant takes place with beautiful music that sets the tone for the festive season ahead.
