Objectives Get students interested and working in a network security environment Foster a sense of competition Develop expertise in network security Take advantage of faculty expertise in cybersecurity Establish a sandbox for cybersecurity (specifically network related) research

Contest Overview Set of teams competing against each other for control of target server A team is several students and a team leader 24 hour competition each week Two part process: Attack – Take control of server to score Defend – Protect server from other teams Weekly point tallying

Requirements Competition Server User Simulators May be used to monitor Training of team leaders

The Contest: Rules 1. User services always accessible and properly functioning 2. Attacking cannot interfere with usage 3. No third-party applications 4. Scoring only takes place during allotted time period
