Objective 1 – Strategy 3 INSTRUCTION – HOW WE WILL HELP STUDENTS LEARN Instructional staff at all levels (administrators, teachers, instructional paraeducators) have knowledge, skills and abilities to seamlessly integrate the Five Dimensions (5D’s) of Teaching and Learning--Student Engagement, Purpose, Curriculum and Pedagogy, Culture and Climate and Assessment/Evaluation in instructional practice Activities and TaskYear 1Comments Administrators provide consistent training for instructional staff on the 5Ds   Provided training for staff members in each building about purpose.  Continued work to integrate and improve effective Student Engagement instructional strategies (This looked different in each school) Administrators and instructional staff are trained to participate in Instructional Rounds   Principals facilitated instructional rounds, providing training, protocols and structure for teachers Administrators and instructional staff participate in Instructional Rounds to improve practice   Two days of instructional walk-throughs for all staff offered in each building  = Year the activity or task is scheduled to occur

Objective 2 – Strategy 1 SUPPORT SYSTEMS – WHAT WE WILL DO TO SUPPORT STUDENTS The Lakewood School District will provide a variety of remediation programs and supports for students who may be at risk for on-time graduation. Activities and Task Year 1Comments Expand online credit recovery and remediation options for grades 6- 12   Successfully piloted APEX at the middle school with one student  Plans in place for additional use at LMS next year Explore alternative program options for grades 6-12   Secondary administrators researched alternative learning options and programs  Conducted site visits to four district program, with plans for one additional visit Clearly articulate graduation requirements and assessment options to students and parents 6-12   Counselors met with each class/grade level  Counselors conducted individual conferences with each student to plan courses and schedules for next year  Reviewed current procedures and practices for improvement next year  = Year the activity or task is scheduled to occur

Objective 2 – Strategy 2 SUPPORT SYSTEMS –PARTNERSHIPS WITH FAMILIES FOR STUDENT SUCCESS The Lakewood School District will provide a variety of opportunities and events to increase student and parent involvement in the planning for on-time graduation in grades 6-12. Activities and Task Year 1Comments Increase parent and student understanding of graduation requirements and options beginning in middle school   Eighth grade parent night held at LHS, enhanced with additional staff participation  Explored options for high school parent conference models Increase student and parent involvement in academic and co- curricular activities   Needs assessment for grades 6-12 conducted in 2009-10 used to inform plans for events and activities Gather parent input to improve Student Learning Plans and partner with parents   Parents provided input on learning plans through ELL Parent Nights, Title/LAP parent meetings and during conferences Research and evaluate supplementary materials for extended learning and remediation   Aligned Title, LAP, and Special Education curriculum for K-5  Identified materials to be used Request approval of supplementary materials from Curriculum Council  Activity scheduled to begin in 2011-2012 school year  = Year the activity or task is scheduled to occur
