Goverments approaches Africa Allow the production of GM Plants There is even foundation that aims to train and develop African regulators to approve, monitor and track genetically modified crops. Asia The two main producers of GM Plants is found in this continant ;India and China India currently only grows GM cotton, while China produces GM varieties of cotton, poplar, petunia, tomato, papaya and sweet pepper. There are differences in the regulation of GMOs among countries, with some of the most marked differences occurring between the USA and Europe. Regulation varies in a given country depending on the intended use of the products of the genetic engineering. As an exception Japan labels products for consumers

Two controversial perceptions USA It seems ironic that in the United States, a country obsessed with food safety and prone to whimsical dietary fads, confidence in genetically modified foods is very high. There is no talk of 'Frankenstein' Food. Nor is there the irrational fear about so-called 'tinkering with nature' which occupies the mind of so many British consumers. Instead, the large majority of Americans see GM foods as having many benefits, both now and in the future. UK or Europe

Turkish minister of agriculture declares: «GMOs shall not pass borders» Turkey will never produce vegetables or plants with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in future, “It is forbidden to produce plants or vegetables in Turkey that have been genetically altered or genetically transferred. This is not happening, has never happened and will never happen,” said Eker, stressing that Turkey had passed a law on bio safety that had been approved by the United Nations General Directorate.

Minister of Agriculture declares: Eker said: “I want the public to understand three points. First, genetically modified food production has not been allowed in Turkey and it is still not being allowed. Second, its import is also not allowed. Third, and most importantly, our inspections on this are very strict. There is no reason for our citizens to be concerned in any way.”

GMO Free News from Turkey Test on GMO rice inadequate and ‘technically invalid,’ Turkish university says A haul of 21,000 tons of genetically modified rice seized in southern Turkey may have been inadequately analyzed, officials announced May 8. The rectorate of Istanbul Technical University (ITÜ) stated that the bio-genetic research center that performed the tests has made some mistakes during the experiment. “The methods of experiment carried out are not suitable to assess if the GMO allegedly found in the rice was not caused by the risk of contamination. Hence, the results are technically invalid,” the statement read. Six people were arrested on April 9 in connection to the rice that was seized at the docks of Mersin.
