Lecture 1 Dr. Steve Ramroop 8/30/2015 GEM 1100 2 Why study drafting? – –Drafting is a form of graphic communication – –Concerned with the preparation of the drawings needed to develop and manufacture a product – –Drafting is frequently called a “universal language” – –Lines, symbols, and figures have a specific meaning when used – –The symbols accurately describe the shape, size, material, finish, and fabrication or assembly of a product
