Replacement of disability living allowance with the ‘Personal Independence Payment ’ Maria Miller – ‘It is only right that support is targeted at those disabled people who face the greatest challenges to leading independent lives Argument that DLA is no longer effective, and acts as a barrier to work Caseloads increasing beyond those envisaged 30% increase in 8 years – 420,000 on lower component when 120,00 expected.

DWP plan to introduce in 2013/14 Re-assessment of 16-64 caseload Children & over 65 under consideration 20% cut in caseload & expenditure DILNOT commission on funding of care & support will be considered DLA/Social Care funding interplay?
