Course Description (I-MIT)
Data storage structure, data level, information modeling, concepts of database systems, database system architecture, database design and case studies, middleware, relational algebra and concept of Structured Query Language (SQL), query processing, transaction management, database integrity and security, database management should demonstrate their abilities to apply the knowledge to effectively solve database related problems. Students will also research published works in data modeling and database technology. Messed up typo even in curriculum spec!

Course Description (I-MMIS)
This course studies the advanced theoretical and practical foundations of database management. The topics include a brief review of classical issues surrounding design, analysis, and implementation of databases, both from a micro and a mainframe perspective; current and emerging issues in the database field; analysis, design, and implementation of web databases, the object-oriented data model paradigm, the use and management of automated design and support tools (e.g., CASE) from a database perspective, and data security.

Course Objectives Students should:
Understand the main concepts of database technologies Be able to design database and understand the application of normalization Be aware of state-of-the-art database technologies Be able to apply knowledge to effectively solve database related problems.
