Features of Excel Equivalent or Similar to Word In Excel, all the basic commands such as Open, New, Close, Save and Save As, work in the same way as they do in Word. The only difference to note is that when you save an Excel file it is given the file extension.xls Other features which are similar are Spell Check, Find and Replace, Page Setup for margins, Page Orientation, and many of the formatting features.

Formulae A formula is an instruction to perform operations on values. Depending on the package you are using, a formula must start with one of the following a special symbols (e.g. +, –, @, =) to identify it as a formula. All formulas in excel start with an equal sign (=).formula
