2. Transportation has always been a necessary media to mobilize, whether is from a bicycle to an airplane, we are surrounded by the constant innovation of it. There are increasingly more rapid transports, which are hybrid or with an ecological manner that don’t contaminate the environment, also transports that are safer for the passengers, among others. Ecuador has always been a country full of traditions and with a unique culture, being a tropical country its privileged to be rich in flora and fauna, it contains a large amount of rain forests where we can find timber plants for the construction of objects, houses, furniture, etc. Thinking of Ecuadorian culture and what could represent my country and its people, first thing that came to my mind is their handcraft. Combining the indigenous creativity that is our ancestral heritage, Ecuadorian handcrafts are one of the most admired in South America. This art is a cultural manifestation of the indigenous roots of the country. Ecuadorian artisans expressed their feelings through their hands, creating crafts such as painting, fabrics, beads, cloth etc. Currently Ecuadorian art is appreciated and demanded in many countries because of their originality and reasonable cost. My idea consists in the improvement of a certain type of transportation, which can be functional to the service of people who cannot mobilize their selves, that is safe, attractive, and economical. Basically it’s to link the following factors; the innovation of a type of transportation, the incredible gift and qualities that Ecuadorian artisans have to create handcrafts and use the most abundant and resistant natural resource that grows in the rain forests of Ecuador, the Guadua Cane (Caña Guadua). 6. The Guadua cane grows especially in tropical and subtropical regions. This is not a wooden plant, but its considered as a plant with wooden fibers that has superior qualities than the iron being as though as it, but much more flexible and economical, so is considered the steel plant that can be use to built houses, panels, floors, moldings, among others.

Unfortunately, like the most of the Latin American countries there is a high rate of people with low incomes, which is no very easy for them to invest money in a car, or to pay daily a taxi to mobilize, due to this problem that affects a certain number of population in my country, there is something known as the “tricimoto”. You can only see this in Ecuador as the most popular type of affordable transportation. This is a motorcycle with three wheels driven by a person who makes the task of carrying the passenger to their destination. The problem with this motorcycle is that is not very safe, either for the passenger or the driver, as it is built with materials such as plastic, metal, aluminum, and others, which are unstable for the proper functioning of the moto, also it doesn’t have an attractive design and it is really uncomfortable for the passenger to enjoy the ride. The tricimoto is widely used in the towns where the streets are very narrow, in which vehicles, such as cars; trucks or busses cannot pass. TRICIMOTO

8. Having all that said, comes my idea to improve this type of transportation. Designing a tricimoto, in which it cabin, where the passengers go, is built with a braided type of tissue of caña guadua and with a wooden floor. In this way it will reflect the incredible workmanship that Ecuadorian artisans have to create this booth, using a plant that represents my country and innovates a type of transportation with a big demand.
